We can't be happy all the time, but there's no doubt we'll always have each other to face any trouble or bad moment... No matter what ;-)
Have a nice weekend all of you!!!!

Here I am again!

I got some desperate emails from my two loyal readers this week: they're missing me in these last few and complained that I was gone and didn't leave any note...
I am sorry for that, but I was really busy in the last few days. I worked over 12 hours per day during the weekend and also had guests over my place.
A very good friend of mine and her boyfriend came from my hometown and stayed with me for some days. We had a very nice time together: talked about lots of different things, laughed a lot, had some nice food and a couple of drinks :-)
On Monday night I took my friend to the beach, so we could have some drinks and enjoy the sea breeze.
Tonight we had her boyfriend graduation party in the army. It was again really nice: more pictures and more drinks :-)
But I am back now!!! Yeah!!!
Hummm... I wonder how many of you are really happy because I am back... I'm sure most of you are crying because you will have to face my boring blog again!!! Ha ha ha ha ha....
Btw, I will reply to emails and comments as soon as possible! Meanwhile you can check out some pictures of the last two days!
Love you all!!!!!!

April 20th, 2007: I just want to fly! Put your arms around me, baby...

Ladies and gentlemen: Yes, Red Bull did gave me wings!!!
There are no words to express how much happy I was at the qualifying race of the Red Bull Air Race! I can't explain precisely what I felt, but I will try to...
You might think it's silly, but I felt like a little child. Correction: I was a child again!!
It is so good to have this childish sensation of joy on my heart and my soul... I felt so alive, amazed and in peace with myself. There was some kind of hope inside me...
At some point, a single tear of happiness dropped from my eye. I could believe my own eyes and I knew it was an once in a life time experience!
The planes just looked like toys in the sky. Gods were playing with their little planes and I felt like I was part of the game: I was also flying with them!
I won't say anything more because the pictures will explain things by themselves...
You can all check how much high I flew at my album or at the Red Bull Air Race website (also pictures of the April 21st race at Botafogo bay).
Enjoy life!!!!!!
Love you all :-)

Let's fly!!!!!

Have you ever thought about an air race?!
Sometime ago I was watching Discovery Channel with my brother and we're both amazed abt a race called Red Bull Air Race.
It's a speed and skills race that happens in the air and with the best and craziest pilots ever! Those guys are Gods to me and I wish I could be in a plane with one of them!
So, there will be a race in Rio de Janeiro next Saturday!!!! The race will happen at Botafogo. Can you guess where exactly I live in Rio de Janeiro?! Bingo! I live at Botafogo beach!! It is the same as having a race in my backyard! Yeah!!!!!!!!
However, who said that life was perfect and easy? Your dear friend Lucy works in the weekends and won't be able to go watch the race... But maybe not everything is lost and there're might be some hope to me! I couldn't go to today's trainning, but I heard the pilots will do some trainning again tomorrow (Friday).
Let's see if tomorrow I will be able to watch those flying Gods and their incredible machines!
Check out some of the pictures of today's trainning!
Take care and wish me luck!
Love you all,

Family: "so close, no matter how far"

Events that took place in the last few hours made me remember how much special my family is...
We are just like in the song: "So close, no matter how far" ;-)
Btw, the song in the video is a brazilian song and I couldn't think abt any song in English abt family... Any suggestion of it?

Still the Amazon Forest

Most of you might be asking yourselves why I said "still" the Amazon forest...
I used the word "still" because this is a topic that has been on the main news for a while. Recently, the environment issue reached the top of news due to global warming. I don't know abt you guys, but I have been listening a lot abt saving Amazon and abt international pressure over Brazil's Government in order to preserve the rain forest since a long time.
I was reading today's newspaper and one more time I faced an article abt international pressure regarding protection of Amazon forest. This time it was abt a meeting held in Brussels. According to the article, those were the conclusions of the meeting:
1. Deforastation of Amazon forest will cause damages to the whole;
2. We all depend of a healthy environment, so all countries should get together to help Brazil saving the forest;
3. All the rich countries had destroyed their own natural resources in order to become rich, so they can't really blame Brazil for doing the same;
4. Since rich countries screwed up things in the name of development and Brazil needs to develop, they might even help Brazil with financial support in order to develop without destroying the forest;
5. There is a very strong resistence of brazilian society against any kind of international intervention over Amazon forest.

First of all: I don't need to say that I care abt the environment, abt the global warming and that I agree that we need to save natural resources (including Amazon forest). I already changed my daily routine in the way I could (I'd rather take the subway than a bus and I rarely turn on the air conditioning, e.g.).

Well, I must say the conclusions are almost right and that we really need to do something regarding the rain forest. However, I have some observations to make.
I don't think giving money to brazilian Government will help, because the money will never be use on the protection of the forest or in anything to make the country develop without destroying natural resources.
Corruption is a reality in Brazil and something that won't change so soon. Of course we need help, but the truth is that we can't trust or wait for Government acts and this kind of financial support would be probably a huge mistake.
Instead of giving money to a corrupted government, it would be better to creat serious NGOs and give financial and general support to those who really work for environment preservation: focus the work on the education abt sustainable development and society awareness. But please, I am not talking about boring speechs... Let's make it appealing to people and fun to kids.
Btw, Brazil does have a law system that allows the creation of those ONGs with no big issues.
They forget abt one particular and really relevant point: we can only sell something if there is someone willing to buy it.
Brazilian forests are being destroyed basically due to 2 reasons: to sell wood/plants and to cultivate soybean (basically used in the production of animal food). So, to whom does Brazil sell the wood/plants from Amazon forest? What are we doing with that much soybean? We're selling everything to the same countries that say we need to preserve Amazon forest!
I am not smart, but I do remember that I learned a couple of things regarding offer and demand back in school days. If there is a demand of people willing to buy wood or willing to buy soybean produced in a devasted forest, then the number of people devasting the forest in order to supply this demand will always increase!
Pay attention: I am not saying the fault is all of the other countries. I am sure I am also responsible, but don't you think we are not the only ones still doing wrong things?
They talk a lot about international pressure over Brazil to preserve the forest, but what abt international pressure over themselves?! This is a two-way road and we can't solve it only by pointing to others fault with dirty fingers!
Come on! What is this talking about "the world can't really blame Brazil for devasting the forest in order to get developed"?! I agree, that most of those countries devasted their forests and they can't really judge us, but Brazil should use them as an example to not be followed!
We are not devasting forest to get developed, we're walking backwards! This is getting rich no matter what... Btw, we are not even getting that rich, because the largest part of brazilian population is poor and they are starving. I wish they're getting richer!
Then, they concluded that brazilian society is against any kind of international intervention and it might be a problem. Of course we are against it! I am scared of any intervention and I am against it too.
Have you ever heard abt biopiracy? Every year lots and lots of foreigns come to our forests because of biopiracy: they come, take our plants with them without permission, develop new medicine and charge us a lot of money for those medicine. There are people who want some kind of intervention for good reasons, but we all know that any eventual intervention won't have the unique goal to protect the forest.
Other countries don't want to get into Amazon forest just to protect it... We are not that much naive and I am glad to know brazilians are against any kind of intervention. I am sorry if you guys don't agree with me, but I don't believe in any kind of intervention in Amazon forest.
We can't forget that Brazil is an independent country that has sovereignty over its territory. If other countries wanna help us, so make it without any governmental intervention. Wanna help to preserve the forest? So come over here and create, join or support a NGO and those who work serious abt environmental preservation.
Do you think I am being too much radical? So ask yourself if you would like to have a strange giving you orders in your own home... The idea is the same! Think abt it and you will understand that might be a solution without any international intervention.
I am sorry for another long and boring post... I promise next one will be shorter and abt something nicer :-)
Love you all (even those who didn't read the post! lol)

It is ok 'cause we say so: the song "believe"

I just found a very nice video at youtube and I wanna share it with you guys.
You all know that I am not into debates regarding political or social issues.
I am realistic about life and people.
It is pretty obvious to me that there're too many things wrong in the world, but I don't believe in instant/miracle solutions and I don't think human kind is really willing to change things. Maybe the problem is that there are too many people like me who avoid talking about social issues and changes.
Maybe the problem is that there are too many "lazy revolutionaries": they know things must change, they talk a lot, but they do nothing.
The truth is that things won't change unless we all change.
There is too much talking out there and no real acting.
Beautiful and passionate speechs will lead us nowhere if we don't make them a reality in our lives. It's like that Elvis' song: a little less conversation, a little more action...
Anyways, I don't agree about everything in the video below but I do believe "it is ok because we say so".
I really liked it and I hope you all like it too.
Btw, I am still avoiding debates on political issues.

Pictures!

The holiday over my brother's house was nice. We didn't do too many things because he had to work most of the days, but we had a nice time.
It was really good to hang out with him, my sister-in-law and my mom :-)
Since Curitiba is a city up in the mountains, there are lots of parks to visit. We went to a nice park on Easter and spent the afternoon under the sun and surrounded by nature...
Unfortunately, I didn't take too many pictures because I didn't take my camera with me :-(
Anyways, you can all check the pictures at Yahoo (Holy Week album).

Take care and have fun!!!!!
