Cuba libre: good company, good movie and good drinks

Tonight was movie night!

I went to the movies with a very nice friend of mine who graduated in cinema, and we watched a movie that is not one of those hollywood "most watched" top list movies.

I like those typical "blockbuster-hollywood" movies, but sometimes I like to watch interesting movies that make me think about life and the human condition.

This time I watched "En tres y dos", a 1985 cuban movie about a baseball player who is in conflict with himself because he is about to retire.

The guy is in his late thirties, he is in good shape and he feels he can still play, but he is no longer in his best feature... He is already "old" and it is time to retire from baseball... However, what is he going to do now? He has no plans for the future, he hasnt thought about retirement and now he doesn't know how to restart his life without playing baseball.

Some former cuban athletes testified their personal experiences regarding retirement and how hard it's to face the fact you are no longer able to play or to be a professional athlete.

I know the movie does sound like any other hollywood drama, but it is not that like. You must watch to understand what I am talking about ;-)

After the movie, my friend and I got together with some students and cinema professionals for a nice talk and some cuba libre drinks (rum and coke).

This is what I call having fun and enjoying life: good company, good talk and good drinks :-)

By the way, have I mentioned it was all for free?! He he he he... ;-)
